Associate Waste & Logistics Consultant
Lead innovative waste and logistics solutions in the built environment. Enjoy hybrid working, strong benefits, and inclusive team culture. Ideal for experienced professionals.
Buro Happold is searching for an Associate Waste & Logistics Consultant to join their Waste Operations, Logistics, and Flows team. This permanent hybrid role comes with competitive salary and an attractive bundle of benefits, including a robust pension and private medical insurance. The position offers a chance to influence critical elements in the circular economy and drive sustainability in the built environment, while benefiting from flexible work arrangements and a supportive environment.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
As an Associate, you’ll lead the creation of bespoke waste and logistics strategies for buildings and urban developments. Your daily activities will include reviewing waste generation calculations, spatial planning for waste storage, and collaborating with architects and design teams to deliver optimal, practical solutions.
You’ll also be responsible for ensuring compliance with industry standards, reviewing technical reports, and guiding junior team members. Regular mentoring and internal coordination are part of the job, keeping project goals aligned and moving forward effectively.
The role includes producing technical documentation, supporting bids, and exploring new technologies in waste management. Leadership in both technical and commercial project aspects will be key. Engaging with stakeholders and cross-discipline teams ensures sustainable and high-quality project delivery.

The hybrid working model promotes better work-life balance and enhances productivity. Employees benefit from 25 days holiday plus flexible leave, company pension, private health cover, lifestyle perks, and strong wellbeing programmes.
Buro Happold’s strong commitment to diversity creates an inclusive workplace where all backgrounds, identities, and perspectives are valued, which fosters innovation. There is clear support for career development through training and professional memberships.
Cons: Considerations Before Applying
This is a senior role demanding significant expertise, so entry-level candidates or career changers may find it less accessible. The broad scope of work can mean managing multiple complex projects and balancing responsibility across different teams.
The expectation to work on both national and occasional international projects could require adapting to new systems and possibly more challenging deadlines.
Verdict: Is This Role Right for You?
If you have an established background in waste management, logistics, or environmental consultancy and value hybrid working, this position is highly attractive. It’s especially fitting for those aiming to drive real change while enjoying tangible employee perks and a dynamic, people-focused team culture.
